FOR UNTO US A CHILD IS BORN, UNTO US A CHILD IS GIVEN;
AND THE GOVERNMENT SHALL BE ON HIS SHOULDER; AND
HIS NAME SHALL BE CALLED WONDERFUL, COUNSELLOR, THE
MIGHTY GOD, THE EVERLASTING FATHER, THE PRINCE OF
PEACE.

Jesus Christ fulfilled hundreds of prophecies in the Old
Testament. Many of these prophecies involve the circumstances
surrounding His birth. Today we will take a look at only a few of
several such prophecies. We will also take a look at their fulfillment
in the New Testament. Please note the irrefutable similarities
between the Old Testament predictions and their New Testament
fulfillment! I hope that you will enjoy these “Prophecies of Jesus’
Birth!”
The Book of GENESIS:
[Prophecy: Messiah Would Be From the Seed Of A Woman]
( From the Book of Genesis )
“AND I WILL PUT ENMITY BETWEEN YOU AND THE WOMAN,
AND BETWEEN YOUR SEED AND HER SEED; HE SHALL
BRUISE YOUR HEAD, AND YOU SHALL BRUISE HIS HEEL.”
( GENESIS 3:15 *NKJV )
Here God is speaking to the serpent of the Garden of Eden.
Who was the serpent? None other than satan himself!
The phrase “you shall bruise His heel, is referring to Christ’s
Crucifixion. The praise that He shall bruise your head is
referring to satan’s defeat when Christ rose from the dead.
A strike to the heel is not deadly but a crushing blow to the
head is!

BUT WHEN THE FULLNESS OF THE TIME HAD COME, GOD
SENT FORTH HIS SON, BORN OF A WOMAN, BORN UNDER
THE LAW, TO REDEEM THOSE WHO WERE UNDER THE LAW,
THAT WE MIGHT RECEIVE ADOPTION AS SONS.”
( GALATIANS 4:4 )
Born under the law means Christ was subject to the Jewish
law, further establishing His identification with all of the
people who are subject to the law.
[Prophecy: The Messiah Would Be From The Tribe Of Judah]
THE SCEPTER SHALL NOT DEPART FROM JUDAH, NOR A
LAWGIVER FROM BETWEEN HIS FEET, UNTIL SHILOH COMES;
AND TO HIM SHALL BE THE OBEDIENCE OF THE PEOPLE.”
( GENESIS 49:10 )
The scepter is an orange staff or rod that is the symbol of
authority. Shiloh, like the word “seed” is a name of the coming
Messiah.

HEZRON, THE SON OF PEREZ, THE SON OF JUDAH,”

The Book of ISAIAH:
[Prophecy: The Messiah Would Be An Heir To The Throne Of David]
OF THAT INCREASE OF HIS GOVERNMENT AND PEACE THERE
WILL BE NO END, UPON THE THRONE OF DAVID AND OVER HIS
KINGDOM, TO ORDER IT AND ESTABLISH IT WITH ORDER AND
JUSTICE FROM THAT TIME FORWARD, EVEN FOREVER.”
( ISAIAH 9:7 )
Our Savoir brings His rule of peace to believers hearts in the
present age, and He will establish the Kingdom of God which
will be His reign of peace! The fact that He will occupy the
throne of David fulfills God’s Promise to David ( see 2 SAM.
7:8-16; PSALM 89:19-37 )

HE WILL BE GREAT, AND WILL BE CALLED THE SON OF THE
HIGHEST; AND THE LORD GOD WILL GIVE HIM THE THRONE OF
HIS FATHER DAVID. AND HE WILL REIGN OVER THE HOUSE OF
JACOB FOREVER, AND OF HIS KINGDOM THERE WILL BE NO END.
( LUKE 1:32-33 )
The reason this verse states “His father David” is because in the
Hebrew language there were no words for Grandfather or Great
Grandfather, etc. So one’s ancestors were all called fathers.

[Prophecy: The Messiah Would Be Born In Bethlehem]
( FROM THE MINOR PROPHETS )
BUT YOU, BETHLEHEM EPHRATHAH, THOUGH YOU ARE
LITTLE AMONG THE THOUSANDS IN JUDAH, YET OUT OF
YOU SHALL COME FORTH TO ME THE ONE TO BE RULER
IN ISRAEL WHOSE GOINGS FORTH ARE FROM THE OLD,
FROM EVERLASTING.” ( MICAH 5:2 )
Bethlehem means “House of Bread.” Going forth
from the old means that this birth of a Savior King would be
unlike the birth of any other, because He was preexistent.
He is from the everlasting!

JOSEPH ALSO WENT UP FROM GALILEE, OUT OF THE CITY
NAZARETH, INTO JUDEA, TO THE CITY OF DAVID, WHICH IS
CALLED BETHLEHEM, BECAUSE HE WAS OF THE HOUSE AND
LINAGE OF DAVID, TO BE REGISTERED WITH MARY HIS
BETROTHED WIFE, WHO WAS WITH CHILD. AND SHE BROUGHT
FORTH HER FIRSTBORN SON, AND WRAPPED HIM IN
SWADDLING CLOTHS, AND LAID HIM IN A MANGER, BECAUSE
THERE WAS NO ROOM FOR THEM IN THE INN.

Swaddling cloths were strips of cloth wrapped around a baby
to keep its arms and legs straight.

[Prophecy: The Messiah Would be Born Of A Virgin]
THEREFORE THE LORD HIMSELF WILL GIVE YOU A SIGN: BEHOLD,
THE VIRGIN SHALL CONCEIVE AN BEAR A SON, AND SHALL CALL
HIS NAME IMMANUEL. ( ISAIAH 7:14 )
Note: the name “Immanuel,” In Hebrew means “God With Us.”

NOW IN THE SIXTH MONTH THE ANGEL GABRIEL WAS SENT BY
GOD TO THE CITY IN GALILEE NAMED NAZARETH, TO A VIRGIN
BETROTHED TO A MAN WHOSE NAME WAS JOSEPH, OF THE
HOUSE OF DAVID. THE VIRGINS NAME WAS MARY. THEN THE
ANGEL SAID TO HER, DO NOT BE AFRAID, MARY, FOR YOU
HAVE FOUND FAVOR WITH GOD, AND BEHOLD, YOU WILL
CONCEIVE IN YOUR WOMB AND BRING FORTH A SON, AND
SHALL CALL HIS NAME JESUS. ( LUKE 1:26-27 & 30-31 )
In the sixth month means six months after John the Baptist
was conceived. Nazareth was a very small village in
Galilee, a region north of Jerusalem.

WHEN ISRAEL WAS A CHILD, I LOVED HIM, AND OUT OF EGYPT
I CALLED MY SON. ( HOSEA 11:1 )
The Lord regarded Israel as His son and thus treated the
Nation with special care.

WHEN HE AROSE, HE TOOK THE YOUNG CHILD AND HIS MOTHER
BY NIGHT AND DEPARTED FOR EGYPT AND WAS THERE UNTIL
THE DEATH OF HEROD, THAT IT MIGHT BE FULFILLED WHICH WAS
SPOKEN BY THE LORD THROUGH THE PROPHET, SAYING, “OUT
OF EGYPT I CALLED MY SON.” ( MATTHEW 2:14-15 )
An angel had warned Joseph in a dream that Herod would
seek to kill the child, and told Joseph to flee to Egypt until
Herod’s death.
Now may; THE GRACE OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST,
AND THE LOVE OF GOD, AND THE COMMUNION OF THE
HOLY SPIRIT BE WITH YOU ALL. Amen.
